―油画技法材料研究室とその周縁の作家たち

明けましておめでとうございます。

昨年はTo the Future、新潟ジパング、その他学校関係の展覧会や祭りにお越しくださいまして、またこんな私を支えて下さいまして、本当にどうもありがとうございました。何かと無駄な動きの多かった感が否めない2012年でしたが、今年はその要因を排し、従来通り力を即結果にしていきます。

今年の干支である蛇について調べているうちに、地元に蛇にまつわる行事やつくりものがいくつか伝わっていることに気付きました。手元の辞典によれば、蛇を頭に頂いた土偶が伝わっているように、蛇は縄文時代から何らかの信仰を集めていたようです。青大将は英語でJapanese rat snakeというそうですが、鼠を捕食する蛇への信仰は、田畑の害獣の捕食から生まれた狼信仰とよく似ています。そういえば地元の博物館には縄文時代に作られた日本狼の牙製のお守りも収められていますが、蛇も狼も稲作以前から大切にされた動物のようです。地元はたまたま住んでいるだけの大して好きな土地ではありませんが、近所の貝塚以外にも縄文に通じている部分を感じ、嬉しく思う年明けとなりました。

Happy New Year!

Thank you for everyone who watched, +faved and gave me warm comments to my works on dA! And also big thank you for those who visited the exhibitions I joined last year. For me, 2012 was not a good year since I've moved for many things I didn't have to work for. Facing the brand-new year, I'm going to cut off, I mean take a years off post graduate school, which is pulling my legs badly. It allows me to prepare a situation which I can fully transmit my ability to works, and also I believe this decision makes my dissertation more significance. In addition, some of you would be wondering if I am a furry or not, and yes, I'm the one. I've building my first fursuit since last October but for a painter who is specialized for 2D, it's awfully fun but also hard to finish in couple of months. I'd like to complete it by spring (I wrote this to give myself a pressure).

BTW, my first exhibition of 2013 will be Art Stage Singapore 2013 (I guess). When you are visiting the fair, please check Mizuma Art Gallery booth and see "The Strange Stories around Sumida River" series in life!

Now, contemporary art being created in Japan is well received by people all over the world with fresh discoveries and surprises. This exhibition introduces art works by up-and-coming artists who express themselves uninhibitedly while continuing the traditional arts of Japan, but not keeping themselves within the traditional limits of expression.
Featured artists include Makoto Aida, Manabu Ikeda, Kazama Sachiko Kazama, Tomoko Konoike and Natsunosuke Mise"

GTS; Sumidagawa New Sights Stories

I'm going to exhibit 59 paintings done on photographs taken around Asakusa and Tokyo Sky Tree. The gallery itself is also quite close to those famous sight-seeing areas.
